For over 30 years Lions clubs around the world have proudly sponsored the Lions International Peace Poster Contest in local schools and youth groups. This art contest for kids encourages young people worldwide to express their visions of peace.
We encourage every Lions club to engage with the youth in their community to sponsor a Peace Poster Contest entry.
The theme of the 2023-24 Peace Poster Contest is “Peace Without Limits.”
History has shown that all too often peace is not guaranteed. While this is unfortunate, it also allows us the powerful opportunity to figure out how to achieve peace, individually and in our communities. And who better to map out the “Journey of Peace” than our youth?
Students, ages 11, 12 or 13 as of November 15, are eligible to participate.
In 2022-2023 the Durbanville Lions Club’s sponsored entry created by Lezé Calitz was
been chosen as a merit award winner in the 36th Annual Lions International Peace Poster
Contest. Lezé was awarded US$500 and a certificate of achievement.
Peace Poster Contest Judging
Each poster is judged on originality, artistic merit and expression of the theme.
Posters advance through several judging levels: local, district, multiple district and international. At the international level, judges from the art, peace, youth, education and media communities select one grand prize winner and 23 merit award winners.
Peace Poster Contest Awards
One international grand prize winner will receive US$5,000 and a trip to a special award ceremony.
Each of the 23 merit award winners will receive a cash award of US$500 and a certificate of achievement.
